Ascension Seton Williamson expands cardiac program
Electrophysiology (EP) program Includes expanded capabilities, services, technology and more

Ascension Seton Williamson announced the expansion of its electrophysiology (EP) program, including expanded capabilities and services, advanced technology and a growing team of experienced providers and staff. The EP program will help serve the community through the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (AFib). AFib is largely underdiagnosed and undertreated in Williamson County, and puts patients at higher risk of stroke, heart failure and death. Early diagnosis and aggressive management of AFib, including stroke prevention, risk factor management and catheter ablation helps reduce these risks and offers for a better quality of life for patients.
The expansion features state-of-the-art technology, including a cardiac mapping system and intracardiac ultrasound which allow cardiac electrophysiologists at Ascension Seton Williamson to better target and treat AFib, and other arrhythmias with cardiac ablation, without the need for a fluoroscopy, limiting radiation exposure to patients and staff. Most patients are able to go home the same day, post cardiac ablation.
Drs. Thomas Kurian and Kris Heinzman, cardiac electrophysiologists at Ascension Seton Heart Institute, will lead the EP program at Ascension Seton Williamson. Ascension Seton Williamson plans to welcome a new EP doctor in the near future to help grow the EP program and provide care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias. Ascension Seton Williamson is working with the Ascension Seton Heart Institute EP team to build an AFib ablation program center of excellence in Williamson County, offering high quality care, close to home in the Round Rock area.
