The bolstered presence includes 5 added OB/GYNs, new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, breast surgery program, urogynecology services and more.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Ascension Seton Williamson officials this week announced the expansion of its women’s health program.
The bolstered presence includes the addition of five experienced OB/GYNs, new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and breast surgery program, expansion of maternal fetal medicine and urogynecology services and the incorporation of new technology to support the program’s growth, officials said in an advisory. Dr. Richard Benedict, OB/GYN, joined the team in 2019 and leads the women’s health program at Ascension Seton Williamson with a focus on patient experience and quality.
“We are thrilled to expand our women’s health program at Ascension Seton Williamson,” Kate Henderson, regional hospital president at Ascension Seton Williamson, said in a prepared statement. “Our multidisciplinary, experienced team provides seamless care at each stage of a woman’s life and health care services close to women's homes in Williamson County and the surrounding communities.”

Ascension Seton Williamson’s Women’s Health Program officials termed the expansion as a “rebirth.” Buttressing the assessment is an expanded women’s health program at Ascension Seton Williamson that includes a NICU, which opened in January 2020. The Level II NICU features eight beds and includes state-of-the-art equipment for infants who require advanced care after birth. The NICU keeps mothers and their babies together, in one place, to receive high quality care. Additionally, OB/GYNs Dr. Jennifer Uxer, Dr. Melisa McCormick, and Dr. Bianca Ibarra joined Dr. Benedict on the clinical team at Ascension Seton Williamson.
Ascension Seton Williamson launched its breast surgery program in May 2020. Featuring surgeons Dr. Joseph Jeanette and Dr. Nancy Marquez and breast imaging specialist Dr. Jaime Callas, the program offers advanced imaging and surgical procedures to meet the community's needs for breast care. Additionally, the program features a new and innovative technology, SAVI Scout, to treat individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. This state of the art surgical guidance system enables the surgical team to more accurately pinpoint tumors prior to surgery and enhances surgical success in the removal of targeted breast tumors.
