- At the May 12 City Council meeting, Round Rock officials unanimously approved rezoning a new housing development south of the city's downtown area to a planned unit development. The area was previously zoned for single-family, commercial, and light industrial use. The new development project will have a maximum of 410 urban multifamily units and 19 townhomes, some will be six stories high. Nearby residents expressed concern for the new development, stating a possible increase in crime, increase in foot traffic behind the existing community, the height of the structures, and traffic impact.
