AUSTIN, TX — If you're looking for an opportunity to celebrate a tradition steeped in Mexico's rich history and culture, Mexic-Arte Museum invites you to the 37th Annual Day of the Dead Exhibition, commemorating Día de los Muertos.

An important religious and cultural event celebrated by Mexicans and Mexican Americans alike, as well as other in Latin America, Día de los Muertos is increasingly observed in the U.S. as part of contemporary American popular culture. This year, Mexic-Arte Museum presents a Day of the Dead exhibition featuring Community Altars and a special showing of Day of the Dead artwork from the Juan Antonio Sandoval Jr. Collection.

Community Altars in the exhibit will pay homage to Hispanic victims of the COVID epidemic, by Maria Eugenia Ramirez Flores; people who have died of AIDS; and heroes of the U.S. civil rights movement, just to mention a few.
