Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:
- The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center today at 1:00 p.m. for businesses and residents affected by the Mar. 21 tornado in Round Rock. The SBA will offer help with low-interest federal disaster loan applications and questions at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center, located at 1600 Gattis School Road in Round Rock. No appointment is necessary. After today, hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. (City of Round Rock)
- Beverly Tolentino, sister of Henry Tolentino, said her brother did not get the help he needed. Henry had a fatal shootout with police on May 7, after he shot a neighbor multiple times. The neighbor is now out of the hospital. Police are still investigating whether he shot himself or a police officer shot him. Henry struggled with his mental health after serving in the Middle East and would turn to his sister to calm him down. Beverly said, "I feel in a way if [I] would have been heard I could have talked to him maybe on the speaker and calmed him down." But she could not get through the police barricade. The Texas Rangers are investigating the response of the Round Rock Police Department. (KXAN)
