Donations, Volunteers Needed For Thanksgiving Bags Program 2020

First United Methodist Church Round Rock invites the community to assist families in need this Thanksgiving through donations.

ROUND ROCK, TX—Round Rock's First United Methodist Church Round Rock (FUMC-RR) is requesting the community's assistance to provide a meal to a family in need this Thanksgiving. Since 2013, FUMC-RR has offered outreach to the community in the form of providing Thanksgiving Bags Project with meals to low income families in local elementary schools.

In 2019, 275 families received Thanksgiving meals, with each receiving a full meal for their families including a turkey and pie. This year's pandemic has adversely affected countless families in the community, and greater help is needed to help make a family's Thanksgiving special amid difficult circumstances. This year, the following elementary schools will receive assistance through the Thanksgiving Bags program: Berkman, Gattis, Double File, Callison, Robertson, Union Hill, Voigt, and Success High School. Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Armed Forces Reserve Center, and other organizations will also be included this year.

There are two ways to help give this year. The preferred option is to do online giving of $40. FUMC-RR will do all the shopping and stuffing of the bags. Or, you can download the Thanksgiving Bag Shopping list here and can deliver the groceries to the church starting in November. If choosing to shop for the items yourself, please make a monetary donation of $20 to help offset the cost of the turkey, rolls and pies.
