Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:

  1. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) has run out of space to house medium-to-large adult dogs. There are over 170 dogs currently at the shelter. For the first time in years, the shelter will be publishing a euthanasia list. At this time, the shelter is offering free adoptions for all medium-to-large adult dogs. Fostering is available to those who cannot adopt at the moment; and if necessary, WCRAS can help with supplies and medical needs for the dog in foster care. To see all the adoptable dogs that qualify for this special, go to wilcopets.org. Then send an email to adoption@wilco.org to schedule an appointment. (City of Round Rock)
  2. The Georgetown Police Department confirmed that a 16-year-old from Round Rock was pronounced dead on Monday due to injuries sustained while cliff jumping at Lake Georgetown. The Georgetown Fire Department had rescued the teenager from the lake at about 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and transported them to a hospital, after receiving 9-1-1 calls from boaters on the lake. (KVUE)
  3. Round Rock ISD named Cindy Hill as its new general counsel. Hill has 35 years of legal experience and has served as outside general counsel for school district administrations and Boards of Trustees. Hill said, "I am very excited to be joining the Round Rock ISD family. Supporting public education has been my lifelong passion and being able to work within the community has been my dream. I can’t wait to get started helping the District carry on its long tradition of excellence." (Round Rock ISD News)
