Here are the top stories in Round Rock today:
- Round Rock firefighters performed life-saving measures on an 18-month-old girl in November 2022. Within minutes of arrival, personnel performed CPR and brought back a pulse in the child. Last week, those firefighters were honored with the Phoenix Award. Visit FOX 7 Austin to see all of the heroes from that day.
- Three Round Rock teens came together to help the homeless community. Joy Tando, Ester Yu and Jocelyn Lee co-created the Brown Bag Project when they wanted to turn their concern for the homeless into action. Instead of donating money, they wanted to have hands-on and in-person contact with those they were doing this for. Through monetary donations, the trio delivers "care packages include things like socks, non-perishable foods and hygiene products." See KVUE for more on this story.
- Starting out as a middle-schooler, Jungmin Kang turned a slime hobby into a multimillion-dollar business. When Kang was 13, she enjoyed creating and playing with slime. Through research on the best slime recipes and adding a twist of her own creativity, Kang developed her brand out of a $200 investment from her parents. When overwhelmed with all facets of the business process along with concentrating on her schoolwork, Kang hired a team that includes her parents, to handle most of the everyday tasks. Kang still plans to be the face of the business as she makes her way to college at the University of Texas Austin. (Business Insider)
