- Ten years in the making, check out Round Rock's list of projects in the 2013 general obligation bond program: $16.5 million allotted for fire department facilities (Prop. 1), $56.5 million for parks and recreation (Prop. 2), $23.2 million for the library facilities (Prop. 3), $27.4 million for police and fire training facilities (Prop. 4). Three new fire department buildings are being built to relocate stations #4, #8, #9. A new training facility for police and fire was completed in Sept. 2018. The Rock 'N River Family Aquatic Center was completed in May 2016. Round Rock Public Library is making its debut this weekend, Jan. 28. Visit City of Round Rock for more details on other bond projects.
- Learning about the preservation of Round Rock history is something that the community can experience on Feb. 7 at noon at the Baca Center Grand Room. The "Discovering Round Rock History lunch and learn" program will have vice chair of the City of Round Rock Historic Preservation Commission, Pamela Anderson, sharing her knowledge of heritage tourism. Bring your own lunch and enjoy complimentary cookies and water. Check out City of Round Rock to learn more.
- New speed limits will receive official signage within Old Settlers Park and Downtown Round Rock, after city council members unanimously approved the measure by consent at the Jan. 26 meeting. Harrell Parkway will be reduced to 25 mph and a new section from East Main Street will be added to an already existing 30 mph zone. These new speed limit zones were taken into consideration after studies and input from the community. Round Rock Police Chief Alan Banks said, “We also have to take into consideration that a lot of folks that come up are from out of town, so we will continue to work on enforcement out there.” (Community Impact Newsletter)
