- Governor Greg Abbott is requesting investigations into Atmos Energy, and the Railroad Commission of Texas is complying, after Dec. 24's natural gas debacle that left residents in Round Rock, Leander and Cedar Park without heat and other home necessities due to lack of gas pressure. "At no time did Atmos Energy request assistance. Even during coordination calls of the Texas Energy Reliability Council, Atmos Energy did not properly communicate the extent of its failure or request the Council’s help," Abbott states in a letter to the attorney general. - Terrance Allen Nuckolls, who was reported missing early Wednesday morning, was found safe. Because the 70-year-old Nuckolls was "diagnosed with a cognitive impairment ... law enforcement officials believed his disappearance posed a credible threat to his health and safety."(KVUE.com)

Here are a couple of family-friendly things to do in town if you're up for it: Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is hosting a glow party with a prime rib and oyster menu, beverages, and a countdown balloon drop at midnight.
