Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:

  1. Round Rock native Caroline Harris won Tuesday's Republican runoff for House District 52 with 50.5 percent of the vote over Patrick McGuinness. Harris said, "It is an honor and a privilege to fight for Texas. With my victory tonight, to God be the glory. I look forward to knocking more doors this November." (Austin American-Statesman)
  2. Round Rock ISD Superintendent Hafaed Azaiez sent a letter to concerned parents following the Tuesday shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. In the letter he wrote, "Our safety and security department and Round Rock ISD police have emergency plans and procedures in place to prevent and respond to an active shooter event." And all RRISD schools lock their doors during the school day and use video intercom systems to see who enters and leaves the buildings. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) also gave RRISD a grant to put bullet-resistant film on the front windows and doors of all elementary school campuses. (KVUE)
  3. A new office building, located at 406 N. Lee Street in Round Rock, opened on Apr. 8. Lott Brothers Construction occupies one of the suites in the Class A office space. The first floor is still available for lease. (Community Impact Newspaper)
