  1. Round Rock entrepreneur Wendy Conklin's first book will be released this month. Life Whimsy is "giving readers a look at how they can bring more fun into their lives and into their homes" with tips and advice to help people to tap into their creativity. Some things readers can look forward to in the book: advice on how to start and grow a small business; "the magic of play" for personal rejuvenation; dropping fears and embracing passions, and more.   2. In keeping with the pattern of severe weather we've experienced over the last few years, "a strong Pacific storm bringing snow and rain to the West Coast today will make its way towards Texas." A smaller set of storms until 9 this morning will be followed by a second set of more severe storms between 3 and 10 pm. Wind and fire advisories may come with the passing cold front as well.   3. Firefighters arrived right before 10 p.m. on Feb. 28 to a fire at a temporary brush drop-off site on E. Palm Valley Boulevard. They discovered heavy machinery on fire and were able to put it out within 18 minutes. "Out of an abundance of caution, Round Rock residents were advised to stay in their homes while the fire was burning, but the advisory has since been lifted." No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. FOX 7 Austin has more details on this story.
  4. Round Rock Express is partnering with Peak Events to host Huston-Tillotson University Rams’ vs. University of St. Thomas - Houston baseball game March 7, at Dell Diamond. Ticket prices start at $15 and parking is free. "This will mark the second consecutive season that the Huston-Tillotson Rams have appeared at Dell Diamond." Visit MiLB for more background.
  5. RS3 Strategic Hospitality will host a job fair March 4 from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm, for job-seekers interested in working for Round Rock Express. "Interested applicants may pre-register here for the job fair to be held in the Dell Diamond's United Heritage Center at 3400 E.
