Here are the top stories in Round Rock today:

  1. According to AZ Animals, feral hogs have destroyed yards of some Round Rock residents. Due to the dry weather, these hogs are searching for land to get their munch on. Not only do they enjoy grazing on grass, as omnivores they also dine on what's underground, such as insects, amphibians and nutritious roots. "To help control the hog population on City-owned land, the City captured and transported some of the animals a number of years ago." Visit AZ Animals for more on this story.
  2. Round Rock Tree Experts CEO Ford Isaias is launching a program specifically designed to help women get opportunities and training in a typically male-dominant profession. The module-based training classes will consist of: mastering pruning techniques, honing technical knowledge and tools and activities to help trainees learn aspects of arboriculture. Round Rock Tree Experts "hope to inspire future generations of female tree experts around the world so they can reach their full potential." More details at Digital Journal.
  3. LSU took home the win at the Karbach Round Rock Classic on Sunday. The Tigers 23-hit total helped bring home the victory of 16-4 over the Sam Houston State Bearkats. "Junior center fielder Dylan Crews was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for his performance in the tournament." To get the highlights on the tournament, LSU Reveille has the full scoop.
