Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:

  1. Daniel Gutierrez, 22, was charged with murder for allegedly killing a man after shooting him multiple times at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Shoreline Drive in Travis County on May 25. Law enforcement found he was involved in a crash in Round Rock in April 2021 and identified Gutierrez using his social media. (KXAN)
  2. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), from 2020 to 2030 employment in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) occupations will increase by 10.5 percent, while non-STEM jobs will only increase by 7.5 percent. BLS also reported that those employed in STEM jobs get paid more, with a median annual wage of $95,420 compared to $40,120 for non-STEM occupations. The Austin Chamber partnered with local school districts, including Round Rock ISD, to create the Chamber's Talent Ambassador program. The program helps students explore careers, including careers in STEM fields, by connecting employers with schools and colleges. (Business Facilities)
