Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:

  1. Beginning this upcoming Monday, May 23, the lane configuration at North Mays Street and Old Settlers Boulevard will be adjusted to improve traffic flow at the intersection. The right lane of Mays Street on the north side of the intersection will change from a right-turn-only lane to a through or right-turn lane. On the morning of May 23, the lane will be closed while crews adjust the signage and markings indicating the change. (City of Round Rock)
  2. During its May 18 and 19 meetings, the Round Rock ISD board of trustees discussed the possibility of exploring the implementation of single-member districts. A single-member district ties a single officeholder to a district of precincts. Currently, all seven of the RRISD board members represent all parts of the district. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. The Round Rock ISD board of trustees recently declined the Chapter 313 application from Toppan Photomasks. Toppan Photomasks, a manufacturer of components used in semiconductors, had proposed a total of $900 million in economic investments. Trustees voted 3-3 to accept the application; therefore, the motion failed. They did not indicate why they voted the motion down. (Community Impact Newspaper)
