  1. The City of Round Rock has open summer internships, starting off at $16 per hour. The city is known for its strong management and quality of service delivered to residents. Applications are open to high school, undergrad and graduate students. Here are some of the open internships: Library Summer Reading Program, Sports Management and Tourism, Communications and Marketing, Human Resources, Police Department, and more that you can check out at City of Round Rock.
  2. City Council approved a contract to build the new fire station, at Thursday's meeting. Fire Station 1 will be located on Old Settlers Boulevard to house one battalion chief and a 3-4 man fire crew. The personnel from Central Fire Station on Commerce Boulevard will occupy the new station while the old station will still be used for administration functions. McKinney York Architects and 2P Consultants were contracted in May 2022 to take on this project, to be completed by early 2024. Check out more details at Round Texas Government.
  3. Compared to Comal ISD, where a senior student was arrested on felony charges, Round Rock ISD’s approach to THC vape pen offenses is more lenient. In Round Rock, unless students are suspected of selling or distributing the substance, the district is trying to handle offenses without seeking criminal charges. A felony charge would come from possessing or distributing delta-9. Some students are using delta-8, a substance that isn’t considered illegal — until a final ruling comes from a lawsuit between cannabis companies and the Texas state health department.
