Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:

  1. Christopher Lee Commiato, 41, of Round Rock, died in a head-on car collision on State Highway 123 south of Elm Creek Road, near the 500-mile marker just north of Seguin on Saturday, May 7. Crystal Marie Commiato Martinez, 43-years-old of Austin, also died in the crash and four others were injured. According to a preliminary investigation, Commiato was driving the vehicle and veered into the northbound lane and crashed into the truck. (My San Antonio)
  2. On May 7, the city of Round Rock and Lone Star Santas hosted a Caravan of Toys distribution at the Bob Bennett building for families who were affected by the March tornado. Each child was able to select some toys and then take a photo with Santa that was printed on the spot by the Lone Star Santas team. Round Rock Director of Community Development Joseph Brehm said, "Seeing the eyes of children light up and the smile on their parents' faces was priceless. We cherished the opportunity to help people feel better during their disaster recovery."(Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. Round Rock ISD announced that all students can keep their district-issued Chromebook over the summer, even if they are not participating in Round Rock ISD summer learning programs. Graduating seniors must return their Chromebooks before or on senior device collection days, May 20 or May 23. (FOX 7 Austin)
