  1. Public hearing for the 2022 Texas Academic Performance Report will be held Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. It is compiled by the Texas Education Agency, and includes readiness results by grade: dropout and attendance rates, college and military readiness, amongst other factors. For the 2021-2022 school year, participation in state standardized tests rose from 70% to 99%, with testing being given completely online. Check out Community Impact Newspaper for more details.
  2. Looking for ways to celebrate Black History Month? Check out this local event! "The Black Excellence Art Show is taking place at The Paradox Ranch in Round Rock, and will showcase a variety of pieces by local Black artists including paintings, sculptures and photography." More details and tickets can be found here. (The Daily Texan)
  3. Round Rock girls' basketball started off rocky during the playoff game against Westlake. After a brief timeout and reality check from coach Doug Davalos, the Dragon girls pulled off a strategic 43-35 win with offensive play, hitting shots, and facilitating great defensive support. Senior guard Kate Hodges said the team “took a timeout, [coach Davalos] yelled at us for not doing what we were supposed to do, then we went out and played like we had prepared — that was about it.” Catch the rest of the story on Austin American-Statesman.
