Round Rock Police Department Seeks Reaccreditation

Residents are invited to submit public comment toward the pursuit of accreditation by the police department.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Residents are invited to submit public comment toward the pursuit of accreditation by the Round Rock Police Department, officials announced Thursday.

The Round Rock Police Department is poised to complete its quaternary review required to retain its status as a fully accredited agency, a highly prized distinction the department has maintained since its initial accreditation in 2004, officials explained in an advisory.

The voluntary process of obtaining accreditation yields a national recognition of law enforcement professional excellence, police officials explained.

Starting Aug. 10, a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for
Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will examine all aspects of the department’s policy and
procedures, management operations and support services, officials said. The assessment team comprises law enforcement practitioners from out-of-state police agencies characteristically similar to the Round Rock Police Department and includes: Team Leader Colonel David Wolf from Olivette Police Department Missouri and Lieutenant Steve Sanders, Garden Grove Police Department in California.

Assessors will review written materials, interview individuals and preform virtual tours of
offices and other facilities where the assessment team can verify that the Round Rock Police
Department is in constant and continuous compliance with nearly 400 of the Commission’s state-of- the-art professional standards, officials said. The standards are available to view by contacting the commission at the address listed below.
As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to
offer comments at a virtual public information session on Monday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. For
