Round Rock Residents Reminded It's Illegal To Launch Fireworks
This New Year's its important to think of safety and be reminded fireworks are banned within the City, and 5000 ft. outside the city limits.
ROUND ROCK, TX—Williamson County reminds residents this holiday season to leave fireworks to the professionals and prevent a needless tragedy from occurring. It's estimated that more than 8,000 people are treated in U.S. hospital emergency rooms for injuries associated with fireworks each year. Nearly half of these injuries are burns, with most involving the hands, eyes, or head, and nearly half of victims treated being under the age of 15.
Fireworks are illegal to discharge in Round Rock including a 5,000-foot fireworks free zone outside City limits. Celebrating the New Year should be done so with your safety and the safety of others in mind, and residents are reminded that the City of Round Rock explicitly prohibits the sale or use of any fireworks, including devices with make a visible or audible effect when set off.
Use or possession of fireworks is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $2,000.
The City’s ordinance specifically outlaws possession and use of sparklers, skyrockets and firecrackers. As most firework burn injuries involve children and burns to the hands and eyes causing vision impairment and disfiguring scars, please be reminded sparklers are the biggest danger to children.
