Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:
- The 2022 edition of Smart Asset’s Safest Cities study ranked Round Rock as No. 14 on the safest city in America list. The study compared the violent crime rate, property crime rate, vehicular mortality rate, drug poisoning mortality rate, and percentage of the population engaging in excessive drinking. (City of Round Rock)
- Three weeks after the tornado, Round Rock residents are still waiting for house repairs, with many saying they are "fighting with insurance" companies. Texas Department of Insurance spokesperson Ben Gonzalez said, "If your insurance company is not able to tell you what the delay is or why it's taking long to do that, you may need to file a complaint with us. We're a state agency so we can look into those complaints and ask the insurance company what’s going on here." (CBS Austin)
- The City has been receiving complaints about noise and vibrations from the new Round Rock Amp amphitheater. Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan said that the amphitheater has not violated the City's sound ordinance, but the City will monitor future events at the venue. He also said to e-mail him at cmorgan@roundrocktexas.gov instead of calling emergency services about amphitheater noise complaints. (KVUE)
