Round Rock Teens Invited To Virtual Presentation On Mental Health
NAMI Central TX and Round Rock Public Library will host the online event geared to teens ages 12-18 to help them learn about mental health.
ROUND ROCK, TX—As we begin the new year facing many of the same challenges carried over from 2020, the topic of self care continues to be a top priority among healthcare professionals in our communities. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Round Rock Public Library invite you to a virtual presentation, Ending the Silence (mental health for teens ages 12-18).
The community is invited to talk about mental health, help raise awareness and learn coping strategies for those ages 12-18. NAMI Central Texas offers innovative education, support and advocacy programs to change the way our community addresses mental health. Serving Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Burnet, and Caldwell counties, NAMI Central Texas will host the virtual meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. and geared to middle and high school students. Presenters include a positive role model - a young adult living in recovery from a mental health condition.
The presentation will raise awareness of mental health condition, while helping to reduce the stigma in order for individuals to seek help. Students will learn:

- Signs and symptoms of mental illness
- Statistics on mental illness and it’s affect on middle and high school students
- How to seek help for themselves or a friend
- Recovery and coping strategies
- Understanding mental illness and ways to reduce the stigma
Resources will be made available to participants including:
- Contact information for mental health agencies and youth support services
- List of symptoms and warning signs of mental illness
