Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:

  1. The Round Rock Public Library has announced local entrepreneur Katie Kehlenbach as the $10,000 grand prize winner of its first Biz.ability business plan competition. Kehlenbach, co-founder of AdderLock, won with her design of a barbell collar. She will receive $7,500, a Dell computer system worth $2,500, and a consultation with a Dell Technology expert. "That nudge of encouragement and then understanding all the tools we have access to through the library is super exciting," Kehlenbach said. (Austin American-Statesman)
  2. The Round Rock Police Department has reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with multiple overnight car burglaries that occurred in the Egger Acres neighborhood on Wednesday. Home surveillance footage of the suspect helped Round Rock officers track down an individual matching that description in the 1900 block of Sunrise Road. Ervin McCarthy, 22 of Round Rock, was arrested for multiple charges, including unlawful carry of a firearm by a felon, assault on a peace officer, and multiple warrants. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be added, say officials. (FOX 7 Austin)
  3. In the wake of the leaked Supreme Court opinion that supports the overturning of Roe v Wade, Texas Democrats are sharing their thoughts on how to respond. State Representative James Talarico of Round Rock referenced the Texas lawsuit that led to this seminal Supreme Court case and called for Democrats to "regain political control over the state." As Talarico wrote, "Roe v Wade was won by a Texas lawyer. Fifty years later, Texas Republicans shocked the nation by virtually banning abortion. Flipping Texas is key to winning the presidency, changing the court, overcoming the filibuster, and protecting the rights of all Americans." (The Texan)
