  1. Round Rock's Crisis Response Unit receives $1M in federal funds, to support mental health in first responders, paramedics, and behavior health specialists. The Crisis Response Unit was started in 2022 as a division with the Round Rock Fire Department. The funds became available through the 2022 federal appropriations bill. This effort is to help local law enforcement and first responders focus their energy on providing their services more effectively and safely. (KXAN)
  2. Around 6 p.m. on Oct. 2, a man was pronounced dead at the scene after a motorcycle collided with a deer. A woman has injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Her current condition is unknown. This fatal crash was located on RM 1431 at Vista Hills Blvd. between Round Rock and Cedar Park. To see updates on this developing story, check back with Fox 7.
  3. The city of Round Rock and its residents expect a high value for what their tax dollars pay for. There are a significant amount of funds allocated for road construction, water projects, and other capital improvements for the next year. With rapidly growing population, you can see how tax rates and challenges are kept up with here. To see how resident taxes are also impacting Round Rock ISD, you can read more here.
  4. Shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 1, Round Rock Police were called to an incident near the soccer fields of Clay Madsen Recreational Center. Someone reported that there was a man laying on the grass armed with a gun. Round Rock Police located the subject, identified him, did not locate a firearm, and notified that there was no danger to the public. (Facebook)
  5. The Oaks on Chisholm Trail is a Round Rock neighborhood that will have a total of 113, 'Build-to-rent' homes, starting at $3,100 a month. Essentially, they are the perfect starter homes fit with all of the necessities inside, with small yard lots on the outside. With the rising costs of purchasing a new home, these rental homes give the feel of new home-ownership, without the burdens of high interest rates, routine maintenance and upkeep, and other soaring costs that come with buying a home. To read more about why experts say that this new trend of 'Build-to-rent' homes will drive more inequality into the current housing market, click here.

  • It's that time of year, ya'll! If you've noticed more bird traffic in the sky lately, that's because it is migration season for them. The "Lights Out" initiative is to help migrating birds be able to travel safely to their destination. 1 out of 4 birds may not make it to the end of their travels because of light pollution. Audubon Texas and Cornell Lab of Ornithology are asking folks to dim their lights between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. thru Oct. 29, when birds are most active. (KEYE Austin)
  • Let's wish a Happy School Custodian Appreciation Day to all of our Round Rock ISD custodial staff for their consistent hard work at keeping 56 campuses and 15 District facilities a beautiful, safe, and clean and place. Clean spaces are a big help in students success! (Facebook)
  • Mark your calendars for the annual 'Trunk or Treat' on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m., with the Round Rock Police Department! Bring the kids out to this free event at the Round Rock Public Safety Center.
