Here are the top stories today in Round Rock:

  1. Hurricane Ian is well on its way to Florida, where Texas search and rescue crews are on standby, known as Texas Task Force-1, to assist those affected by the oncoming hurricane. Crews from the Round Rock and Austin Fire Departments, along with Austin-Travis County EMS, will be in Florida for an estimated two weeks after the hurricane makes landfall. A representative of Texas Task Force-1 said that they are dedicated to helping out Florida citizens during this time, as Florida's rescue teams have come to Texas and helped us tremendously during our times of disaster and need. (FOX 7 Austin)
  2. One of Round Rock Express’ very own, Cole Winn, has achieved bragging rights as the single-season strikeout king! As the Rangers' #10 prospect, Winn also surpassed the mark of 118 strikeouts during the Round Rock Express game vs. Sugar Land on Tuesday night, making him the first strikeout leader of Round Rock Express since 2005. Learn more about Cole Winn’s baseball career on Sports Illustrated.
  3. Round Rock residents have heard the unfortunate stories of how South Austin neighbors retaliated against porch pirates and in return, were left with cow manure smeared all over their front porches and vehicles. On the bright side, Round Rock Police implements "Operation Front Porch" every holiday season so residents can opt to have their packages delivered to the police station instead of being left unattended at their doorstep. And RRPD also has a community camera program that gives police access to neighbors' home surveillance cameras, should there be any crime in the area. (WDAF FOX4 )
