Here are the top four stories today in Round Rock:
- According to Texas Realtors' new Texas Quarterly Housing Report, home sales in the Austin-Round Rock MSA have decreased 12 percent from the second quarter of 2021 to the second quarter of 2022. In the same time period, the median home price has increased by 17.4 percent to $546,000. And active listings have increased by 217 percent. (KVUE)
- Place 1 City Council Member Michelle Ly and her husband opened a new business named The Rock Shot Bar & Patio. The bar is located at 112 E. Main Street in Round Rock, next to their other business, The Rock Sports Bar. (Community Impact)
- Round Rock ranked number 37 in data provider HomeSnacks' recent ranking of the U.S.'s richest big cities with at least 100,000 residents. The study looked at three data points to rank the cities. One data point was the median household income, and Round Rock's ranked number 49 with $86,121. The next data point was the unemployment rate. Round Rock's unemployment rate ranked number 88 with 4.9 percent. The third data point was the poverty rate, which was 6.2 percent for Round Rock, ranked at number 16. (Culture Map: Fortworth)
- The Rangers returned left-handed pitcher Taylor Hearn to Triple-A Round Rock to work in relief. The move was to make room for starter Dane Dunning. Management hopes Hearn's move to the minor league will be temporary. (Dallas News)
