- On Aug. 11, the Round Rock City Council set a maximum proposed property tax rate of 34.2 cents per $100 of valuation for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023. The extra 1.6 cents will be used for the new Library and to increase resources for public safety, according to Susan Morgan, Chief Financial Officer for the City. (City of Round Rock)
- According to the Texas Education Agency, the COVID-19 pandemic erased years of academic gains. Round Rock ISD has an accelerated learning program, part of House Bill 4545, which gives extra help to students who did not pass the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test. Round Rock ISD also had "a few thousand students in summer learning this year," and they will also "be working in accelerated learning groups throughout
the fall" to catch up from the COVID-19 learning loss, according to Ryan Smith, the chief of teaching and learning for Round Rock ISD. (Spectrum News 1) - On Aug. 6, Round Rock ISD celebrated its annual Back to School Celebration. More than 5,000 students and families celebrated back to school at the Stony Point High School campus.
