Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:
- On Thursday, Jul. 21, an alert was issued by Jonah Water SUD asking customers to "cease all non-essential water use" due to a leak. The City of Round Rock is not under emergency-use restrictions and the city's water supply has not been impacted. Jonah Water SUD customers should contact their utility provider directly at 512-759-1286 with any questions. (City of Round Rock)
- The Round Rock Fire Department opened its first ever in-house "green" academy to train candidates. And RRFD is now hiring cadets, no prior firefighter experience or education is needed. The current application process will run through Aug. 26. (City of Round Rock)
- Tomorrow, Jul. 24, the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an adaptive pool party for local special needs individuals and their families. The event will take place from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Micki Krebsbach Pool (301 Deepwood Drive). Admission is $5 per person and registration is required. - The Round Rock Police Department reminds drivers that it is illegal to read, write, or send a text while driving in Texas. Violators can face a fine of up to $200. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, in 2021, nearly one in five crashes on Texas roads were caused by a distracted driver of which 431 people died and 2,934 were seriously injured.
