  1. Some Central Texas schools are requiring students to wear clear/see-through backpacks for the upcoming school year due to safety concerns. As of Jul. 20, Round Rock ISD does not have a clear backpack policy, but it does have a clear bag policy for events and football games. (KVUE)
  2. On Jul. 19, the House of Representatives passed the Respect For Marriage Act, which protects same-sex marriage. Rep. John Carter of Round Rock opposed the measure. The only Texas Republican who voted in favor of the bill was Rep. Tony Gonzales of San Antonio. (Chron)
