- Yesterday, two Round Rock schools, CD Fulkes Middle School, and nearby Claude Berkman Elementary went into "lockout" mode as a precaution after threats were made on social media. Round Rock Police investigated and Round Rock ISD said it has not found evidence of the threat. - On May 24, the Williamson County Commissioners Court announced that over $72 million in federal funding will go toward improving water and wastewater infrastructure in Williamson County. The Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority will receive funding to replace a Lake Travis water intake structure. This will benefit Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Leander. (Community Impact)
- Amazon released an official statement saying it is "pausing the entitlements process related to the site we own in Round Rock," due to excess capacity in its distribution and transportation network. The Round Rock distribution center would have been a $250 million project on a 193-acre piece of Robinson Ranch. Yesterday, Brad Wiseman, the city of Round Rock’s director of planning and development services, said "Amazon has placed the project on hold indefinitely, and may not move forward on the site in the future."
