Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:
- Timothy Perez, a 32-year-old musician in the Houston area, has been missing since Mar. 5. Police said he was last seen at St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock. The church made a welfare concern call for a man, but when officers arrived he wouldn’t identify himself and then left. Police later learned the man was Timothy; RRPD officials believe Timothy is voluntarily missing due to his interactions with the officers. Timothy's family does not agree and wants the police to investigate his cell phone records. Call 512-844-7933 or EquuSearch at 281-309-9500 if you’ve seen Timothy. (KXAN)
- An investigation into Round Rock ISD superintendent Hafedh Azaiez by a third party hired by the district reported that Azaiez should not have been reinstated as leader of the district. Two weeks after hearing the investigation’s findings, the board voted to reinstate Azaiez. The report said, "I did state Dr. Azaiez, in my opinion, could not come back into his position and be effective." (KVUE)
- On Jun. 10, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) presented 48 law enforcement officers with State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Awards in the House of Representatives Chamber at the Texas Capitol. Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks was honored with a public service award for the Operation Front Porch program, which he initiated to prevent package theft during the holiday season. (KXAN)
