  1. Several local meteorologists are predicting that Round Rock and surrounding areas to the North are facing the "highest tornado threat" this evening, since the March 2022 events. Weather risk ratings "have been upgraded to an “enhanced” 3 out of 5 severe weather risk late Friday." Severe, damaging thunderstorms are expected from as early as 5 p.m. lasting until 10 p.m. "A few strong tornadoes are even possible, EF-2 intensity or higher."   2. Round Rock City Council recently approved a zoning request for a subject property located at the southwest corner of CR 118 and SH 130. This area has plans for a 1550-unit housing development that will be the largest in Round Rock, if the proposed construction is completed. There are also other parcels planned for a self-serve storage facility, commercial business, and a gas station. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. Round Rock Police Department has some really awesome news for residents! Project Front Porch is returning Nov. 7. This effort is designed to prevent porch-pirating during the busy holiday season. "Packages can be shipped with the purchaser's name and Round Rock Police Department, 2701 N. Mays St., Round Rock, listed as the address. To pick up packages, residents will need their government-issued ID and proof of receipt, such as an order or shipping verification." There are more details on what you will need to provide as proof if you're picking up a gift addressed to your children, as well as dates and times allowed for picking up on the City of Round Rock website. If you haven't started your holiday shopping yet, "The City of Round Rock’s Clay Madsen Recreation Center (1600 Gattis School Rd.) is having their 18th Annual Rockin’ Around the #Holidays Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12." This is a wonderful way to support local vendors while also getting handcrafted gifts. (City of Round Rock)
  • Did you know about Round Rock's Unity Park Community Garden? If you are looking to pick up a skill or expand your gardening knowledge, Unity Park Community Garden is a place where you can take gardening classes and rent your own garden plots for an affordable, annual price. Community water and hand tools are available to members.
