Suspicious Package Fronting Round Rock PD Deemed Non-Threatening

Police had closed off the 2700 block of Mays Street as they assessed the threat level of a suitcase left in front of their headquarters.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Officials gave the all-clear late Monday morning after a suspicious package place in front of the Round Rock Police headquarters was discovered.

Crews with the Austin Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety assisted the Round Rock Police Department after the package of unknown contents was found fronting the cop shop at 2701 N. Mays St. During the investigation, residents were urged to avoid the area while motorists were told of travel delays as the street was closed off to accommodate detectives.

Just before 11:40 a.m., police said the 2700 block of North Mays had been reopened after the package, a suitcase, was determined to be benign. "No items of concern were found," police wrote on Twitter.
