“We are thrilled to be opening Svante’s in historic downtown Round Rock. It’s a like a homecoming for us since my great great grandfather, Svante Swenson, owned what is now downtown Round Rock in the 1850’s and a great nephew of his actually built our building in 1900. We hope to be an important part of the future of the restaurant district that is taking shape here,” co-owner Christopher Swensen told Patch.
There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. with a live broadcast from KLBJ 93.7. They’ll be serving up free sliders, meatballs and fries from the Svante’s Stuffed Burgers food truck and appetizers and fresh baked cookies inside the restaurant from 4 to 6 p.m. or until they run out. There will also be giveaways for free dinner and other prizes.
