Here are the top three stories today in Round Rock:

  1. On Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) held an outreach event in Austin to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. In 2019, Round Rock mother Jamie White lost her 2-year-old daughter, Allie, in a distracted driving crash in a parking lot near Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Jamie White and her family created Allie's Way, an organization that spreads awareness about the dangers of distracted driving, and joined TxDOT's "Talk. Text. Crash." campaign, including speaking at Monday's event. (KVUE)
  2. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) measured the largemouth bass population at Meadow Lake in Round Rock. Patrick Ireland, a district biologist with TPWD said that, "keeping tabs on the fish population may allow [them] to stock more fish into the lake, maybe do habitat improvements, maybe change a regulation. It’s all about trying to make fishing better in Texas ultimately." Last year there was a large decrease in the largemouth bass population. In February, the TPWD stocked more largemouth bass into the lake. (Spectrum News)
