Here are the top three stories in Round Rock today:

  1. After the Mar. 21 tornado, some residents called on Round Rock to install tornado sirens like the ones in neighboring cities Georgetown and Jarrell. However, Round Rock Fire Chief Shane Glaiser said, "They’re not as effective as one may think." Glaiser said the tornado touched down in Round Rock before the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a warning. Additionally, a siren would not have served as an adequate warning, because sirens are activated by emergency response staff once the NWS issues a warning. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  2. Cold Stone Creamery, located at 110 N. I-35 Ste. 135 in Round Rock, will open in early May. Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers will open in June, located at 1700 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Ste. 395 in Round Rock. Via 313, located at 2111 N I-35, ste. 380 in Round Rock, will open in July. The Hoots Wings opening, located at 2200 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Ste. 125 in Round Rock, has been delayed and no target date has been announced. (Community Impact Newspaper)
