Here are the top stories in Round Rock today:

  1. Callie Crow is spreading awareness on how to reverse drug overdoses to many police departments, including Texas State University Round Rock's police. Her nonprofit, Drew's 27 Chains, provides naloxone training sessions to law enforcement throughout Texas. "Her warm, no-nonsense delivery hints at a deeply personal connection." To learn more about her story and why this training is so important, check out the full article on Austin Chronicle.
  2. For two days in a row now, multiple vehicle crashes have occurred in Round Rock. Unfortunately, Thursday morning's incident near McNeil Road involved a possible 10 vehicles, according to KXAN reporter Erica Brennes. Wednesday morning's incident involved three vehicles. Both days brought traffic down to just one open lane. It will likely be raining during this morning's commute. Please drive safely, everyone! (KXAN)
  3. Some new commercial permits in Round Rock include: an addition to Back Porch Social, new construction SWIFT, new construction Teravista Retail Center, an addition to Kalahari Round Rock, and more, with details at Community Impact Newspaper.

From my notebook:

  • Hallelujah! The final phase of the construction on University Boulevard will begin Nov. 14. I'm sure many of you, like me, endure daily commutes on this busy road and will gladly say "sayonara" to the whole thing once the estimated completion date is here in early 2023. (City of Round Rock)
  • Today is the day! Everyone is invited to view, from 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., the newly constructed Round Rock Veterans Monument. "It is where veterans can show their pride for having served; families and friends can honor their veterans for their service; and citizens and businesses can support the recognition of those with a historical attachment to Round Rock." (City of Round Rock)
  • Nothing is more Texan than gifting someone (or yourself) a pair of boots for the holidays! "🤠 The doors of Boot Barn have officially opened just in time for the holiday season 🎁" at the La Frontera shopping center. (City of Round Rock Facebook)
