Williamson County Coronavirus Update: 33 New Cases

Health officials reported 33 additional cases of the new coronavirus in Williamson County on Friday

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Health officials reported 33 additional cases of the new coronavirus in Williamson County on Friday, bringing to total number of cases to 820. The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the county remains at 30.

According to a statistical dashboard maintained by the health district, 553 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness after contracting the virus. The dashboard notes 112 people have been hospitalized for the contagious illness, including 53 treated at intensive care units and another 27 on ventilators.

As of Friday, there were 12 hospitalized patients, three patients on a ventilator and seven patients in the intensive care unit. There are 237 active cases of coronavirus in the county.

To date, the county has performed 14,841 coronavirus tests, with a current 5 percent positivity rate.

Round Rock has the greatest number of active cases in the county with 91, according to the dashboard. Georgetown and Cedar Park follow in terms of illness concentration levels with 35 and 33 active cases, respectively. Leander had 14 open cases as of Friday.
