• Details Unclear on Promised Water Deliveries From Mexico (thepacker.com) — A longtime water advocate from San Juan’s Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 2 is raising questions about how Mexico will actually supply a newly promised 202,000 acre-feet of water to Texas. While federal officials tout progress under the 1944 treaty, local experts warn much of the water may be hard to store or use for crops, leaving Rio Grande Valley farmers facing yet another year of tight irrigation supplies.
