City Of San Antonio: Solid Waste Management To Host Free Landfill Day

SAN ANTONIO (February 10, 2022) – Saturday, February 12, San Antonio’s Solid Waste Management Department customers are invited to participate in a free landfill day event from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Customers may dispose of unwanted bulky items at the locations listed below. Bagged garbage is accepted at the two landfills. The event is open only to Solid Waste Management customers and a valid picture ID and a copy of the most recent CPS Energy bill are required. Loads must be covered by a tarp according to City Ordinance #2015-09-10-0760. The TDS Transfer Station at 11601 Starcrest will not be one of the locations on Saturday.

  • Republic Services Landfill
    7000 IH 10 E, 78219
  • Waste Management Landfill
    8611 Covel Road, 78252
    Customers may be required to wear a safety vest (provided)

Accepted Material:

  • Appliances, water heaters, toilets, furniture, mattresses
  • Carpet, fencing material, tires (limit six passenger vehicle tires per household)

Unaccepted Material:

  • Roofing material, sheet rock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, construction materials
  • Industrial, commercial or construction waste

The city reserves the right to divert loads to other sites in the event of operational constraints. The city of San Antonio and its partners are not responsible for damage to vehicles or injury to attendees of the event. The Solid Waste Department operates four bulky item drop-off centers that are free to Solid Waste customers that pay the Environmental Fee on their CPS Energy bill. They are open year-round Tuesday through Saturday. Visit www.sarecycles.org for those locations.
