• $40B semiconductor plant to start production this week in North Texas (wfaa.com) — Texas Instruments is about to start production at its massive new semiconductor factory in Sherman, a $40 billion project expected to bring around 3,000 TI jobs and thousands more indirectly. The plant, opening with a grand ceremony this Wednesday, will make tens of millions of chips daily and could become one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the country, reshaping Sherman’s economy and regional growth.
   

• Two UTEP football players arrested (kvia.com) — A UTEP freshman linebacker from Sherman was recently arrested in El Paso on a charge of evading arrest or detention and released the same day on a personal recognizance bond. Another UTEP player from Houston faces separate marijuana and disorderly conduct charges, while university officials have declined to comment and referred questions to El Paso Police.
