Cypress neighborhood targeted by car burglar who got away with tools, cash, and at least one handgun: Reports

CYPRESS, TX -- Deputy Constables are looking for at least one man who may have burglarized at least a dozen vehicles in a Cypress neighborhood Friday morning.
Deputies received the first of several reports in the Wildwood at Oakcrest subdivision at about 8 a.m. Friday in the 18100 block of Garnet Red Road.
The victim didn't report any damage to his vehicle, and investigators believe the vehicle was unlocked while it was parked in the driveway.

Police didn't say if anything was taken, but many residents who were getting ready to leave for work discovered that someone had gotten inside their vehicles.
Two young men were seen on several neighborhood video surveillance cameras walking up to several vehicles and checking door handles, but only one house seemed to have a clear photo of one of the burglars.

Officials said when the burglars found unlocked vehicles, they rummaged through glove boxes, and consoles looking for certain items.
Some residents reported wallets, guns, and tools stolen from their unlocked vehicles.
One Oakcrest resident who didn't want his name used and lives on Misty Pond Court said his pickup was burglarized.
"I was up until about 1 a.m., so it had to have happened after," he said. "They took my wallet and damaged my dash trying to take my stereo."
The burglars later used the stolen credit card from his wallet at a nearby McDonaldβs in Cypress, he said.
Another resident reported having a handgun stolen from his unlocked car
Bridgette Monnich, who lives a street over on Plum Green Court, said sheβd left her car doors unlocked and was also a victim.
Monnich said in a social media post, that sheβd left high-end photography equipment and cash in her unlocked vehicle, and while someone had definitely been in her car, nothing had been stolen.
"They didnβt shut any one of our doors all the way," she said in her post.

Residents who live on at least five streets in Oakcrest reported their vehicles had been burglarized.
Investigators released a still photo of one of the men, who was seen checking door handles on one victimβs car.
The burglar appears to be a male in mid to late teens, or early 20s, wearing light colored shorts and a t-shirt, and a light colored ball cap.
Some residents reported seeing the young man on surveillance driving around in a silver or white BMW with a moon roof.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Harris County Precinct 4 Constables Office non-emergency number at 832-927-6200.
