Constable Herman unveils new communications centre, provides update on new police station near I-45

SPRING, TX -- Nearly a year ago, deputy constable's and dispatchers were forced to flee the rising waters of Cypress Creek that overtook their headquarters building while rain from Hurricane Harvey pounded the Houston area.
But recently, the dispatch center reopened with a lot of cool upgrades and and new technology that wasn't in the Precinct 4 crime fighting arsenal before..
"The money and infrastructure we put into the upgrade of our communications center will benefit the citizens and employees of Precinct 4 for many years to come," Constable Mark Herman said.

This investment in the new communications center allowed four Evans Dispatch consoles and three call taker consoles to be installed. These will promote health benefits by allowing the operators to sit or stand while performing daily activities.
Each console is controlled electronically and provides the operators with built in heaters and fans to ensure a more comfortable working environment.

Additionally, eight 55-inch LG monitors were added to create two videos walls within the Dispatch area. This allows the operators to stay updated with current activities throughout precinct 4, such as current weather, news reports and live traffic camera feeds.
"The operators are able to look at over 100 different traffic cameras to assist deputies and citizens on our streets," Herman added.
In 2017, the Constableβs Office received over 300,000 calls into their communications center for police services throughout Precinct 4.
Just a few miles east on Spring-Cypress Road, the constable's office is adding a new station near Interstate 45 in Spring, on Holzworth between the Lowes and Home Depot stores.

"Construction is going very well with all the ground and Plumbing completed. Currently the utilities and other infrastructure needs for the station are being formulated and completed," Herman said. "We anticipate months in completing the building, and staffing the building with 80-100 Constable Deputies and command staff."
The geographical location of the new facility will put deputies minutes away from the communities they serve. Additionally, the entire area will benefit from the new station and additional Constable patrol presence.
"Together we continue to win the fight against crime," Herman said.
