• Spring ISD announces two school closures for 2026–27 (cw39.com) — Two Spring ISD campuses, Lincoln Elementary and Lincoln Middle School, will close at the end of this school year and remain closed for 2026–27, affecting where many local students attend class. District leaders cite lost federal funding, declining enrollment, and underused buildings, and say students will be rezoned to nearby elementary and middle schools to consolidate resources and maintain academic support.
   

• Former KSU quarterback Michael Bishop joins Houston staff (themercury.com) — A familiar face to Spring football fans is moving up: former Legacy School of Sport Sciences head coach Michael Bishop has joined the University of Houston football staff as an offensive assistant. Bishop, who led Legacy in Spring to a 36-21 record and coached five-star QB Keisean Henderson, now enters college coaching after a decorated playing career at Kansas State and in the pros.
   

• Woman dies in North Harris County house fire (khou.com) — A woman died in a house fire Thursday on North Werrington Way in Spring, and investigators are still working to determine what caused the blaze. Spring Fire Department crews contained the flames to the living room, but EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene, and officials have not yet released her identity while the investigation continues.
