Spring ISD Announces New Police Command Center

The Spring ISD is inviting residents to a ribbon cutting for the new Spring ISD Police Command Center on Oct. 9.

SPRING, TX β€” The Spring Independent School District plans to unveil the district’s new Spring ISD Police Command Center next month. District leaders are inviting the Spring community to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 9 at 5 p.m.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will also feature student entertainment as well as remarks from Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson, Board President Rhonda Newhouse and Police Chief Victor Mitchell. A special blessing of the building will be led by Fallbrook Church Pastor Michael Pender.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony comes as the district continues to make progress on fulfilling all of its commitments under the 2016 Bond program, including the construction of two middle schools, three ninth-grade centers, a replacement district stadium, deferred maintenance projects at four schools, as well as safety and technology upgrades.

β€œWe are very grateful that voter support of our bond program allowed us to purchase and renovate this building into a modernized facility for our Police Department and Tax Office,” Watson said. β€œThis new space will allow us to better serve our community, including how we support and protect our Spring ISD students.”

The new command center more than doubles the amount of space available for the district’s police department, which has outgrown its North Forest Boulevard location.

The new 42,000-square-foot command center, located at 420 Lockhaven, was built under the district’s 2016 bond program, and includes new office and work spaces, a dispatch center, processing and interview areas, and property storage on the first floor.

The second floor will house the district’s Tax Office, which is operating out of portable buildings at the district’s Gordon M. Anderson Leadership Center at 16717 Ella Blvd.
