Filing Period Begins For Missouri City Elections
Candidates have already begun filing election applications for the Nov. 6 elections in Missouri City.

MISSOURI CITY, TX -- The filing period for the Nov. 6 city council election in Missouri City has started.
Candidates who wish to sign up for a place on the ballot have until Aug. 20 to pick up a packet at city hall, located at 1522 Texas Parkway in Missouri City.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a Texas resident for one year, and a city resident for at least six months, and canβt have any felony convictions.

Mayor Allen Owen, who was first elected in 1994, is seeking another two-year term.
Owen is challenged by Fred Taylor, a retired educator and businessman.

Council member Jerry Wyatt, who has served continuously since 1998, is seeking another two-year term for the at-large position 1 seat. Wyatt is currently running unopposed.
Political newcomer Susan Soto is seeking to fill the at-large position 2 seat currently held by Chris Preston.
Preston has not filed to run for a second term.
