• These 5 Houston-area neighborhoods saw the most floodplain development since Hurricane Harvey (houstonchronicle.com) — Sugar Land’s limited remaining land is pushing much of Fort Bend County’s new, floodplain-heavy housing growth west into Richmond and Rosenberg, shifting shopping and commercial activity away from the city. Local officials warn that building in Brazos River flood zones, combined with lost prairie, can worsen flooding for downstream neighborhoods, making regional development choices increasingly important for Sugar Land residents.
