A shelter in Fort Bend County is located at Sacred Heart Church at 507 South 4th Street, Richmond, TX 77469.

County officials are also offering the following tips in case of a tornado:

  • Head to your safe location. Choose a small interior room on the lowest level of the home possible. A hallway or closet might be the best choice. If you’re on a floor above the 10th, take shelter on a lower level.
  • Lie on the floor, taking shelter under a sturdy object.
  • Stay here until you know the storm is over. (The eye of the storm may make it seem calm before the danger has actually passed.)
  • AVOID going outside, stay inside if it is safe and you have not been evacuated.

A tornado watch is currently in effect until 1 p.m. and a flash flood warning is in effect until 1:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, police are telling residents of Rosenberg not to leave their homes unless it is an emergency or if they are in the mandatory evacuation area as additional traffic is causing more problems. Police also warned that the rain would soon return and so would the flooding.
