Narcotics Bust Nets $1.6M In Methamphetamine: Police

A traffic stop in Beasley resulted in the arrest of two women and the discovery of 68 pounds of meth stashed in a fake gas tank.

BEASLEY, TX — Agents with the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force intercepted a large amount of methamphetamine on U.S. 59 in the Beasley area during a stop on Thursday afternoon.

Agents were conducted highway interdiction, when a unit on the interdiction team conducted a traffic stop of a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation on U.S. 59 north at Grunwald Rd. near Beasley.

During the roadside investigation, the officer and his K-9 partner, “KAJA,” found a substantial amount of crystal methamphetamine hidden in the altered gas tank of the vehicle.

The suspects, identified Maria Candeleria-Camarillo, 56, of Weslaco,TX. and Rosa Espinosa De Excinia, 54, of Mercedes, TX. were arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

Both suspects face charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, which is a first degree felony, and unlawful use of a criminal instrument, a second degree felony.

Agents said the methamphetamine weighed approximately 68 pounds with a potential street value of over $1.6 million.
