Sugar Land Police Search For Theft Suspect
Sugar Land police are looking for a man who attempted to steal a woman's purse inside Walmart, 345 State Highway 6, on Feb. 17.

SUGAR LAND, TX -- Sugar Land police are looking for a man who tried to steal a woman's purse inside Walmart, 345 State Highway 6, on Feb. 17.
The woman said she left her purse unattended in a shopping cart, and when she returned, the purse was missing.
The woman told police she and her husband saw a man placing an item in his jacket while walking away.

They followed the man and confirmed he took the purse.
The woman's husband demanded the return of the purse.

A struggle ensued, and the woman's husband tackled the man to the floor. During the struggle, a handgun fell from the thief's pants.
The suspect retrieved his gun, pointed it toward the woman's husband, left the purse and ran out of the store.
He was described as a 5 foot 4 inch black man in his 20s to 30s and was wearing glasses, a black hat, a forest green jacket and dark pants.
Surveillance video showed the suspect exiting a white Toyota passenger vehicle and entering Walmart at 8:40 p.m.
